We are asked a lot “What should I do before I list”?
There are some pretty important things that you should do before listing!
Painting- painting the interior of your home with a nice neutral color is important. It not only freshens up your space but allows buyers to focus on the home itself! The last thing you want is for buyers more focused on how much painting there is to do!
Outside Paint- If your home has peeling paint or is a terrible paint color, a fresh coat outside to remove peeling paint is vital because then you are making your home available to FHA and VA buyers! Otherwise, you are limiting the number of buyers who can purchase your home!
Yard Cleanup- I cannot express this to most sellers, especially in these spring months as the snow melts revealing the yard mess from the fall! A fresh clean yard creates curb appeal and also helps your house “bling” in the online photos!
Updating a kitchen or bathroom- If you have the money to put into an update before listing, we suggest spending that on a kitchen or bathroom. It helps buyers see themselves living here without having to do a bunch of work! Even if it’s paint, hardware, and light fixtures. These updates go a long way!
Update your lighting- New lighting is inexpensive and a great way to give a new look to a space and also provide better lighting!
Remove excess items- removing the clutter and staging with your personal items is the most important thing to do before photos and listing! We want buyers to focus on your home NOT on what you own! So start boxing up these items and store them in the garage or storage shed! Stages like a Pottery Barn Magazine or Johanna Gaines!
